Chapter Competition

NAMIC DIVERSITY AND TECHNOLOGY VIDEO COMPETITION

WHAT IS THE COMPETITION?

NAMIC, in partnership with Motorola, would like to invite NAMIC members to take part in the first Diversity and Technology Video Competition. This is your opportunity to create a video tour de force that illustrates the intersection of technology and diversity in the communications industry. The competition will take place from May 1, 2008 through August 31, 2008.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

You must be a NAMIC member and have a registered profile on Diversity Live to participate in the competition.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO CREATE?

Create an original video related to diversity and/or emerging technologies in the communications industry and upload it to Diversity Live during the competition period. The video can embody any of the following:
  • depiction of an event
  • original creative content
  • music video
  • demonstration of how diversity in the communications industry is strengthened by new technologies
  • use of new technologies to connect with diverse communities
  • any theme that that makes a powerful statement in support of the NAMIC mission to educate, advocate and empower for multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry.
In order to be considered for the competition, you must put in a formal request with your local NAMIC Chapter to include your video as one of its official submissions.

If your video is in any language other than English, you should consider providing English subtitles to try and attract more viewers and have greater impact (translation: more votes).

No “copyright” infringing content (audio or video) can be included.

All videos will be placed in the public space on diversity live where all visitors to the site will have an opportunity to vote. Winners will be announced in a special session at the NAMIC Annual Conference, taking place ant the New York Marriott in September, 2008.

HOW DO YOU OFFICIALLY ENTER THE COMPETITION?

Complete the on-line Official Chapter Entry Form, and submit it to your local NAMIC Chapter. Chapter officials will decide if your original video will be an official Chapter submission to the National competition. To be considered for a prize, your original video must receive official Chapter endorsement.

You can create as many videos as you want, including those that you simply wish to upload to Diversity Live to share with the network of visitors to the site. Not all uploaded original content has to be submitted for the NAMIC Diversity and Technology Competition.

Motorola will award first, second and third-place prizes to NAMIC Chapters and to individual creators of the winning entries at the 22nd Annual NAMIC Conference in September, 2008 in New York City.
